Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.

He tests and evaluates cleaning appliances, focusing on mopping and robot auto vacuum and mop combos. Multitaskers are a great option for those who wish to take mopping off their to-do list. Some have great navigation and obstacle avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free cleaning.

The Eufy S1 Pro

If you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner vacuum that also mop, this is the model you should go for. It is smaller than other options, making it easier to maneuver into tight spaces or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar which, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, provides one of my top navigation and object avoidance features I've seen in robot vacuums. It packs a powerful 4600mAh battery which lasts up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to replenish its battery mid-clean.

It's very fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways in one go. The motor's 8,000pa power allows it to clean dirt, pet hair, and poop with ease. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets, and the dual side brushes help to clean debris from corners.

The mopping performance is less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop rotates at a high rate and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a bit more than other robots. This is helpful in tight corners or along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It doesn't create as loud of a sound while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's simple to set up and performs well however this is something you'll need to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It is a powerful cleaner with a variety of features.

The device is equipped with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map the home and locate furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean efficiently and effectively. This leads to an efficient, consistent clean that is also quite fast.

The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach a variety of surfaces. They can reach corners, baseboards, and other hard-to-reach spots. They also have a stretchy side brush that can be extended to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and dry to reduce odors and prevent buildup.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgApp-based customization is yet another noteworthy feature. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction intensity and choose either a back-and-forth or a random pattern. You can also alter the number of passes it must make, which will affect the speed at which the device can move through your home. You can also turn off the side brush to protect your carpets from damage. rugs.

This device is expensive but has many smart features. It's important to keep in mind that it has recurring costs in the form of mopping supplies and maintenance. For example, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad needs to be replaced every one to three months.

The robot vacuum that mops has a high rating on Amazon and comes with a wide array of physical automation features. These include the power button that doubles as a general 'Clean button, as well as a 'Home button that sends it back to its base station once it has completed the cleaning process. It also comes with a multifunctional dock that automatically empty the dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The Shark Matrix Plus

The Shark Matrix Plus will be an ideal choice for busy professionals or anyone looking to keep their home clean without spending too much time doing chores. It is a powerful machine with smart navigation, and a long battery life that makes it simple to keep your home clean with minimal effort.

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop which means it can handle both vacuuming and mopping. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir, and a separate mopping unit with microfiber pads that snap in and out of place. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean that you don't need to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.

Our test subjects discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best robot vacuum and mop feature was its precise floorplan that it uses to draw the path to follow when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate easily between rugs, furniture, and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' or virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mopping.

We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in removing pet hair. It was able to collect some of the hair that our cats shed, and even made it into the corners and crevices of our stairs where other robots have struggled. It was quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that let you know when it was beginning or completing its task.

Its biggest drawbacks were its simple app and the requirement to change between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to save multiple maps. This can be an issue if your house has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a ideal choice for people who want a device that can vacuum and mop.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it does have some unique features which are worth a look. The X1 Omni's most appealing feature is its enormous dock that doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a sink for cleaning as well as an automatic vacuum and mop robot 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically empties.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that let you manually start a cleaning job or recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock which is a great option for parents concerned about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to identify obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally become so entangled with obstacles, like an electrical cord dangling across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. While this was rare, it was a frustrating experience when it happened particularly since the X1 Omni doesn't have a "stuck" status alert in its app.

Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during a cleaning session. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern, sleek base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also an excellent choice for the market that is dominated by boxy models.
