WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current
item upgrade level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
