World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. In addition some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade item by itself.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance an item level upgrade with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to rise until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is usually beneficial but it can also have negative consequences too. Upgrades can make items unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.

The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their stats. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms it will boost the defense of its base, while gloves and belts increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain when upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by arrows that circle in the menu for items. This will reroll the item and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference to your survivability. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which makes it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the more health you can receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each one you must complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a decent-sized group of adversaries in most cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few friends.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing at the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have some upgrades for the helmets and chest armor to allow you to get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, give an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to purchasing a new trinket. It can be done by the player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the old one, and will include an additional 1% upgrade bonus.

Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are no longer useful and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that will not replace anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when selecting the items to upgrade. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.

When they are no longer useful trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool.
