World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will gain 3% of its previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the
item upgrade to the upgrade (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of an armored weapon or. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will become obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also give an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.
You will often find in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed by using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Utilizing Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial, but shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. This item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to boost the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an
item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every each time you upgrade an
item level upgrade, it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an
item level upgrade is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded increases its crit chance that it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base item. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
