The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He reviews and tests cleaning equipment, with a focus on mopping and robot vacuum combos. Multitaskers can be an excellent choice for those who are looking to remove mopping from their list of tasks. They feature impressive mapping and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and they can even wash and refill their mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you need to pick if you are looking for an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It's smaller than other options which makes it more maneuverable in tight spaces or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers one of my top navigation and object avoidance features I've seen in a robotic vacuum. It's powered by a 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170 minutes if mopping and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It will even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.
It's fast and does an excellent job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted areas extremely quickly, and the hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways in one go. The motor's 8,000pa power allows it to pick up dirt as well as pet hair and poop effortlessly. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help draw out dirt from corners.
The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as good. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and uses 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful for getting into tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to pick up larger pieces of debris, like books and broken toys.
Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It is quieter and doesn't produce more noise when mopping or vacuuming. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It is simple to install and performs well. However should you purchase this robot vacuum solely for mopping you must be aware of this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners who want an efficient, flexible, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with a powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This allows it to map out the house and also find furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean methodically and effectively. This ensures an even and thorough clean, while also being relatively quick.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can be used to reach many different surface areas. This includes baseboards, corners and other hard to reach spots. They also have a stretchy side brush that can be extended to reach the floor close to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads can also be washable and can be dried to remove odors and prevent buildup.
Another noteworthy feature is the app-based customization options. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the suction strength and select an back-and-forth or random pattern. You can also select the number of passes which will determine the speed at which it can move around your home. You can even choose to turn off the side brush to avoid damaging rugs and carpets.
It's expensive, but it comes with a lot of smart features. It's important to note that it incurs recurring costs in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad needs to be replaced every one to three months.
This robot vacuum that mops is rated highly on Amazon and includes a broad array of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an power button that doubles as the 'Clean button' and a Home button that allows it to go back home after cleaning. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically empty the trash bin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or someone who just wants a cleaner home without spending a lot of time on chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a excellent choice. Its powerful performance, smart navigation and long battery life make it simple to maintain a clean house with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, which means it can handle mopping and vacuuming. The robot is divided into two components that include a dry bin as well as a water tank that can be snapped out and in and a mopping unit that includes an elastomer pad. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may appear a bit dated, but they do mean you don't have to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the water tank.
Our test subjects discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature was its accurate floorplan map, which it uses to create an outline for cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' or virtual barriers to stop certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up hair of pets. It was able to capture the majority of hair that our cats shed, and even found its way into the nooks and crevices of our stairs which other robots struggled. It was fairly quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that indicated when it was beginning or completing its task.
The app was too easy and you had to switch the modules every time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't keep multiple maps. This can be an issue if your house has several floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want a smart
robot hoover that can perform both vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive
robot vacuum that mops in our review, however it also has distinct features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its massive dock which doubles as the robot's charging base and the housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a clean sink and an
automatic vacuum and mop robot 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically emptys.
The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These allow you to manually start a cleaning task and then recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums, the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
This can cause the X1 to get stuck if it gets caught in a blockage like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't function until you remove it manually. This was a rare occurrence however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert in its application.
The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad however, the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can lead to mildew and mold.
On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking
robot vacuum cleaner best, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome appearance in a market which is dominated by clunky boxes and clunky models.
