Our favorite is the iRobot Combo j5+, which earned solid scores in CR's tests for mopping and vacuuming. It deftly navigates household obstacles and leaves hardwood floors spotless, while also cleaning low-pile carpets.

Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop, is a well made machine. The price of $1,400 is hard to swallow, but you will find it on sale often enough to make the purchase more acceptable. The unit is beautiful, and the base station occupies only a tiny space in a corner of the room.
The design of this robot addresses a few problems that we have encountered with other robotic mop and vacuum models, for example, the brushes becoming entangled in hair, or the brush being unable to reach floors with no furniture. The performance of the sweeper on carpets and bare floors is also impressive. The vacuum/mop unit has a high level of debris pickup, and the mop is able to saturate bare floors quickly.
The mops also have a smart system to clean around the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot is able to avoid the bulkier obstacles like food bowls, toys shoes, and backpacks with any difficulty. It is able to get tangled or entangled with smaller, flatter objects such as shoelaces, USB cable and pen.
We used this robot to vacuum and mop a mixture of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors within a large, open floor plan. It cleaned and mopped the 90m2 space in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots.
This
robot vacuum cleaner quiet is distinguished by a variety of characteristics. Freo X Ultra is equipped with a number of improvements in sensors, software, and hardware to keep it at the
top rated robot vacuum of its class. It is said to have autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments of up to 260 square meters.
You can customize multiple functions with the Freo app, such as the frequency at which the robot returns to the base station as well as its mopping frequency and power (silent or smart), and its mopping humidity. The app can also detect areas that are heavily soiled and devise a streamlined cleaning route, and give detergent out or raise the pads on carpet.
Other noteworthy features include a fast charging battery, an easy-to-read display on the robot's underside and a practical dock door that can be opened easily. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for home or apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores, while keeping their homes tidy and clean.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele isn't a joke in the robot vacuuming world and is known for its quality and innovativeness. This new model aims to take it to the next level with innovative features and top-of-the-line cleaning performance.
The RX3 features a dual-suction technology, intelligent mapping with 3D mapping and cameras that send a real-time image to your smartphone. The RX3's robust four-stage system provides excellent dust collection on hard and carpet floors. Swing-out side brushes, dual suction channels and intuitive controls clean corners. Its 8.5 cm height lets it reach under furniture that is low. Front cameras and an infrared sensor assist in navigating obstacles, thresholds and obstacles with ease.
In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda from baseboards and in corners, the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a bit weaker than other robots but it moved quickly and was quiet. It didn't mop, however, and its removable cleaning pads were difficult to attach and could not deal with dirt that had dried on.
Its app lacks advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa, but its voice controls aren't very clear or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow the wall or trace the previous route, but the RX3 stumbles around until it finally gives up.
Another issue we faced was with its intelligent features, specifically the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. It was effective in keeping our furniture legs and shoes away, but it was easily hung up on cables, socks and rug. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
