WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar
item upgrader mod will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an
item upgrade has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an
upgrade item discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After an
upgrade item has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items come from another set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an
Item Level Upgrade upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
