Sets

A set is a set of items which have some commonality. Sets are utilized every day. For instance an egg dozen or a group of friends. Sets are helpful in organizing things and using operations like intersection, union and difference to manage them effectively. Sets can be utilized in many ways, such as organizing music on a list of play lists or classifying students based on their grades.

In Nioh the game, players utilize sets to offer special effects to players when they wear specific pieces of an Armor Set. These bonuses, also known as Set Bonuses, are similar and sometimes better than Effects. Although it's not clear in the universe why armor sets must be worn together in order to create these extra effects, they can provide an interesting change of pace when playing the game. The armor sets that have Set Bonuses are found in many locations in Hyrule, such as the Dark Moon Temple and Twilight Temple.

Set bonuses

Set bonuses are special effects that are available on a set of equipment which can provide a boost in combat. They offer a specific percentage of a certain statistic, like damage to weapons, defenses or resistances. They don't stack however, only one of them will work at any time. The amount of a stat is determined by the amount of pieces in the set. For instance you can have four weapons and three chests however only one of them will benefit you.

Generally, they boost the primary stats of a piece, however they can also boost secondary stats as well. Defence bonuses boost three positional defense values and two types of defenses, so for example, a full five piece set of Hundings Rage will add up to a total of around 400 defense in your gear. This is a significant boost in the gear you use as a melee.

This is a great feature, and it appears to be one of the more popular in the game. At present, only a handful of sets of gear have set bonuses, and they are only available in the Test Realm, but expect this number to rise once the update is live.
