The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Usually objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the necessary element or material required for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be used in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the type of item upgrades it is. For example an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item is not able to get to its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.

Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building to an established location, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to a high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original Best item upgrader or another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you could be able to get the stats that were important most to your build more often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chance of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also includes number sets that give an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an item. This is a good way to give an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a way to gain a stronger character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can have different sizes, contain no elements at all, or contain just one element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are many set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense value and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to parity with the tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will provide a significant increase in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
