World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The item upgrades upgrade lets players boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like perfect rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats, such as crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons can also reroll the stats of their base. While this is generally beneficial however, it could have negative effects as well. Upgrades can render items inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.

It is possible to upgrade armor items to improve their effectiveness. Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the greater health you can get from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them, and each requires you to complete a unique side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you'll need at anywhere between three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a large group of adversaries in most cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends.

It isn't possible to upgrade armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also unlock some perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have some improvements to the chest armor and helmets that let you stealthy battle certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed provide the user with the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five different types of potions, each having particular effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.

Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. These can be earned by crafting them on a table or in an Alchemist's chest. The price of upgrades changes depending on what type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item level upgrade's Mark Level as well as its rarity.

The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered with gold, tokens, or fragments from rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a new trinket. It can be done by a player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl as the old one, and will include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
