Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It can get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or voice.

In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying that removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up best auto vacuum for many households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task that is being completed. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing.
