Nespresso Coffee Machines
In contrast to drip coffee makers, Nespresso models are small and compact. They have a basic black design and vary in terms of price and complexity. Some have a milk frother to make Latte art, and they can be linked to an app that allows you to manage recipes or get notifications on descaling.
The Essenza Mini is a simple machine that is affordable, but does not have the features to make more complex drinks. Other machines can brew bigger drinks, such as gran lungos.
What is an Nespresso machine?
Since 1986, Nespresso sells single-serve machines which use capsules to brew espresso and coffee drinks. The brand has a loyal following because of its ease speed, consistency and speed in making a hot espresso-like beverage. These machines are an excellent alternative to making espresso at home using a drip coffee maker or moka pot, both of which require time and care after each use.
A Nespresso machine makes use of the pressure system to extract the flavor of a pod. It then heats water and it froths the milk to create coffee drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. Nespresso offers a variety of coffee and blends that can be customized to suit your preferences and mood, including decaffeinated and flavored options. Their machines are compact, stylish, and easy to operate and make them a great option for those looking for an instant cup of coffee in the morning or an afternoon pick-me-up.
Original
nespresso coffee machine sales machines, that make espresso-like shots using the company's Original capsules, were the only machines on the market until 2014 which was when the Vertuo line was introduced. The Essenza Mini is the smallest model in the line. It is compact, with a small water tank and room for used capsules. Its simple operation, with only two buttons - one for an espresso and one for a lungo -- makes it easy to master.
All
nespresso machine black friday machines eliminate used capsules after brewing. This is different from Keurig machines that require you to manually add water every time. The machines can hold anywhere from four up to twelve pods that have been used, based on the size of their water reservoirs as well as capsule storage. They are then disposed of in a built in receptacle every time you open the machine.
Some of the more well-known models are also compatible with the mobile app of the brand that lets you make your own recipes and reorder capsules from your home. We tested this feature on the sleek, stainless steel Vertuo Creatista, which also allows you to make hot chocolate and iced coffee using an ice-making chamber that is specifically designed for frothing. The only drawback of the machine we tried is that it doesn't support all milk types. You'll need purchase a separate frothing device in order to make drinks using whole almond, 2% or 2% milk.
The Original Line
The Original line of pod machines includes the elegant Citiz Mini and Essenza Mini. Both machines pierce the capsule and then pump hot water at high pressure through it to create an espresso or a lungo. The Original machines use an increased pressure of 19 bars than some of the Vertuo models, which use pumps that range from 15 to 18 bars.
The Original machines produce a crema (a thin layer of tiny microbubbles that sits on top of the espresso) that is thicker and richer than the foam found in the Vertuo line. The crema is more than just froth. However, as the Spruce says, it can be responsible for as much as a quarter of an espresso's flavor. The Original line is more expensive and comes with Creatista or Lattissima espresso machine with built-in milk frothers that can make lattes and cappuccinos with the press of a button.
The Lattissima Line
This line of machines is ideal for those who like milky coffee drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos, and want one machine that does it all. It offers three customizable one-touch recipes, and its 4.2-ounce milk container is removable and dishwasher-safe. It's also lightweight, making it easy to transport and store in a tight space. However, some users say it's not as easy to use as other Nespresso models.
The jug's drink-specific lines are etched into it, so you can choose the beverage you'd like to prepare before the machine is heating up. It is equipped with a sensor that stops steaming at the moment it runs out of milk.
The Lattissima One offers a great value for money. It's available in four colors: porcelain white, dark gray, and silky-white. The machine is easy to clean and has a an uncluttered design that won't overwhelm small spaces. It's also relatively affordable, with a retail price of $385/PS279.
It comes with an automatic drip tray similar to the OriginalLine models. The tray is designed to catch any loose ground when you pour espresso. It's a nice feature to reduce mess, and it helps to avoid spills which could affect the taste of your drink.
The Pro and Gran Lattissima have larger water tanks than the Lattissima One. This allows them to hold more water without having to refill. Both models also have a faster heat-up time (as as short as 15 seconds for espresso and 25 seconds for a lungo) and also have an improved hot water function that can be used to make tea or iced coffee.
The only drawback to the Lattissima line is the difficulty in changing the consistency of your milk foam. The machine is only compatible with skim or almond milk. Sorry Vegans and those who are intolerant to dairy. The wand for frothing is difficult to clean. This is a typical complaint from Nespresso users. The Lattissima Pro or Gran Lattissima comes with a self-cleaning feature that removes the milky interior of the frother after each use.
The Vertuo Line
The
nespresso commercial machine Vertuo makes a small and concentrated cup of coffee. It's perfect for espresso lovers. The machine scans the barcode that is located on the outer rim of each capsule to determine how much coffee it can make. Nespresso utilizes an exclusive extraction method to ensure that you get the best flavor from each Vertuo pod.
The Vertuo Line offers a wide range of different drinks, including Ristretto (mini espresso), Espresso, Lungo, Americano and Cappuccino. The machines also work with the Nespresso Aeroccino milk frother to create frothy lattes and cappuccinos.
Each Vertuo Line machine heats up quickly and can be brewed in about 30 minutes. They have a smaller reservoir of water than the Original Line and require less maintenance. There are many models available and you can pick one that is compatible with your home's style as well as your budget.
In contrast to the Original Line machines, which only can brew Nespresso capsules, the Vertuo Line also brews regular, filter-brewed coffee. This is accomplished by a separate spout situated at the bottom of machine.
VertuoLine machines are equipped with a brand new brewing technology that uses centrifusion to softly extract coffee and espresso. This allows for the production of natural crema, which preserves and enhances
coffee machines nespresso compatible aromas. The VertuoLine system also features an intelligent recognition system that alters the extraction parameters to match each Grand Cru blend.
Each VertuoLine machine comes with a manufacturer's assurance and an initial pack of Nespresso capsules. The company offers a subscription service which delivers new
nespresso latte machine caps each month.
The Nespresso VertuoPlus machine is the best overall machine. It's easy to operate and heats up quickly and comes in several colors. It can make five different sizes of coffee and espresso, including a flat white, ristretto, and lungo. It also makes a latte-macchiato, and it can be used with the Aeroccino Milk Frother for the creation of cappuccino or lattes.
The only downside to the VertuoPlus is that it takes a little longer to make a cup than other machines, specifically when making an Americano. Comparing the Bunn Fastbrew with the Nespresso VertuoPlus, which can make an 8-ounce Americano in just 42 seconds, it took 1 minute, 51 seconds. You can speed up the process by making sure you select an automatic mode.
