World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item upgrade to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. Additionally there are many weapons with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. This bonus can sometimes be greater than the damage that an upgrade alone can cause.

The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and current level. For example an item upgrader with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative consequences. In the case of items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can render them useless unless you have an extremely lucky roll.

It is possible to upgrade armor items to improve their stats. This will increase the base defense of a chest or helm, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also has the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it could change its roll to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain after upgrading along with the values of these stats. This means that the weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will hit for 3 times less often because it's an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circular arrows within the menu for items. This will roll the item and alter its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's level nor connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to poison, curses and fire as well as magic. This makes it easier to navigate difficult terrains. Generally speaking, the more defense your character is, the more value you can get from every point of health you have therefore it is important to improve your armor as often as you can.

To improve your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a special side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you're looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to withstand an entire raid with a few of your friends.

You can't upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or the power of spells. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear by the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have some improvements to the helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around some monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce a temporary effect. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, enhancing the effectiveness of their effects. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust to them.

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them using a craft table or the chest of the Alchemist. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can choose the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.

Once a potion is upgraded, it will not be degraded until you use it again, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions, for instance have now a duration of that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display for the item. The table for potion can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be mixed in cauldrons. Similarly, using a potion on a full cauldron, it drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.

Trinkets

A trinket can be described as a small and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an ornament or object that has a purpose but isn't important such as a trinket. In some cultures a trinket can be used to express affection or friendship between family members.

In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing statistics.

The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. It is possible to upgrade the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl of the older one, and come with an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

Once the old Trinkets are no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other pieces of gear that will not be replaced in the near future (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when choosing the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players then they should consider upgrading their chest, helm and shoulders.

Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they no longer have value and the new trinket will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
