Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and click the upgrade item button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item upgrader they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from earlier versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they're "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

When an item is leveled out in this way, it is capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it is able to get an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available depends on the type of item it is. For example, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to reach its max level, the NPC will give players the option to transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item level upgrade with another set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower rate of success.

To determine the height of a structure, engineers will use a level to compare the measurement against an established reference point, like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to acquire tokens for rerolls. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or bad thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may also have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you upgrade item an item upgrades, the better the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with number sets that give an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an item. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a character without spending lots of money.

Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster path to a powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can have different sizes, contain none at all, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Sets of armor that offer the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, weapon upgrades often do not improve the item's stats much as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.

Certain set items are upgraded to meet their own special functions which can be useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into parity with their levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and improve their performance when it comes to damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. It will show the item's attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense of armor that has an updated look.
