WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also added to each
upgrade item.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the
Item level Upgrade level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with the help of button, which displays an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the
item upgrades and the current
item upgrade level. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
item upgrader kit upgraders can be found in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less even when they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the
item upgrader mod like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
