World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all the leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the item level. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item's level.

The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its value. It can also be located by hovering over an item upgrading with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the item level is determined. One theory says that the item level is determined by an equation that determines the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, since the level of the region the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes can provide the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item upgrader's level. However every item will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The performance of an can be affected by the luck of the item. All items have an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader [my webpage] CORE client config.
