WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an
item level upgrade by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
item level upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require a variety of means, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance, it's
Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the
Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
