Elayaperumal claims that Medtronic deliberately discriminated against him because of his race and nationality. He claims that his poor performance review in June of 2000 and the refusal to award him certain assignments were influenced by racism. Furthermore, Elayaperumal's less-than-perfect performance review did not result in an increase in his salary, benefits, or the responsibilities he had.
