World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item upgrade for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times with higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within that range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and each item upgrader kit that has Luck increases this chance by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
