The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best automatic vacuum cleaner robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuums best that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
