Buying a Twin
stroller double With Car Seats
When you are a baby, you might choose to use a light frame stroller that can accommodate two infant car seats. The best choices include the UPPAbaby Vista V2 Double or Joovy TwinRoo+.
This model allows the car seat carriers to be facing either same or opposite directions and also has a huge storage bin that is accessible without removing the infant carrier. It can also fit through most doors.
Folding is easy
The Vista V2 from UPPAbaby is a stunning, huge twin stroller that holds two infant car seats that have the proper adapters (car seat adapters are available separately). It is easy to push and glide, turning and spinning like a single-seat stroller. It comes with adjustable leg and footrests as well as a large UPF 50+ canopy, a peekaboo windows, and padded 5-point safety harnesses. It comes with a toddler seat, or choose to add the RumbleSeat, which is a bassinet-like seat for small children and infants. The large storage basket is big enough for all your stuff and comes with a convenient place to keep your purse or phone, and four cup holders.
It can be difficult to fold, especially when you're holding the handlebar with one hand while holding the child's seat in the other. You'll also need to remove the rear seat from its base to fold the stroller, which is more time-consuming than other double strollers that we've tried. Thankfully, the company has changed the Vista to accommodate its new car seat adapters. The new version--launched April 2023) will work with both the original and updated adapters in both positions and will fold with two of the adapters attached at once.
Another option for families with twins is the Joovy TwinRoo+, our favorite infant car seat twin stroller frame. It can be used with 23 different car seats and both babies can be carried in their infant carriers at the same time. It is a favorite among parents who have small vehicles. The clever design minimizes the overall length so that it is able to fit into certain trunks. The seats are cushioned and comfortable, and they can recline to various positions with the touch of one button. The buckles are among the easiest to unfasten and fasten in our tests.
The only drawback to the TwinRoo+ is that its bench seat is made for a big kid who's at minimum 2 1/2 years old. So it's not ideal for twins or siblings close in age. It's still a great option for families who want to exercise, and the sturdy design means that it won't wear out as quickly as other tandems.
Wheel Suspension
The suspension of the wheel of a twin stroller equipped with car seats is an important feature as it helps make it more comfortable for your children. This is especially important when you're navigating bumps or navigating rough terrain on your walks. Strollers with suspension typically come with larger wheels and shocks. The more shocks a stroller comes with the smoother its ride.
In addition to being easy to steer, a good wheel suspension makes a twin stroller that has car seats more durable. It will make it last longer and is ideal if you intend to use it with multiple children or over a long period.
One of the top twin
strollers double strollers that come with car seats for infants has great wheel suspension, and it's an old model that's been around for long enough: the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go Double. It has a lot of features that many parents love, such as two cup holders, a parent console with a cup holder as well as the storage basket, which can accommodate a lot. It also has a handle that can be adjusted to height which is useful for taller parents.
Chicco BravoFor2 is another popular option for twins using infant car seats. It is a stand-and-sit stroller that can be used with one infant car seat in the front or as a
twin stroller. It's a large stroller that folds down to a compact size. It comes with some nice features, such as magnetic crotch belts that can be opened and closed with one hand.
It is also equipped with a five-point safety harness that keeps your children secure in the case of an accident. This feature is not always on strollers, but it is mandatory for families with infants or toddlers.
The other top pick for twin strollers with car seats is the Contours Options Elite V2. It comes with all the wonderful features we like, including reversible seats and one-hand reclining, compression padding in both seats, adjustable leg rests, zip-up extensions on both canopy and storage space that is extra-large. It also features height-adjustable handle and a redesigned seat to facilitate the reverse of seats when you move.
Canopy
A good canopy keeps your children safe from sun or rain and some models come with extra features such as the peek-a-boo window or the adjustable handles. One of our top picks that we recommend, the BravoFor2 is equipped with a front seat that is adjustable at the waist and shoulders, making it simple for a single parent to take the kids both out. The bench seat is designed to fit a child who's at least 2 1/2 years older, which means it's not the
best twin buggy option for twins or younger siblings. We liked that the stroller folds up into a compact size and has handles on each side to help you carry it to the car.
Some parents prefer a double stroller that can be used side-by-side because it is less likely to cause sibling disputes. These types of strollers also allow you to view both children at the same time which makes it easier for parents to supervise and converse with them. The downside is that side-by-side strollers are usually heavier and longer than single models.
If you're looking for a lightweight and affordable option, the Baby Trend Double Snap-N-Go is a highly-rated and affordable choice. It is compatible with two car seats for infants and the newer version lets the seats face either way. The latest version is smaller than the predecessor, but still weighs more and is wider than the Joovy TwinRoo+.
Jeep's Urban Glide 3 is our top-rated twin-jogger for parents who enjoy jogging. It can accommodate a single car seat at a single time. And even though it doesn't have a built-in infant carrier it can be used with 23 different brands of car seats via a click-in adapter. It's a sturdy, well-constructed stroller that can carry big loads without straining. Also, we liked the way that the handles adjust to fit your height.
If you have two children of similar age, you may want a sit-and-stand model like the Joovy Twin Roo+. The stroller can accommodate two infant car seats, or one toddler seat. It also has a platform for older kids to stand on. It's more expensive than our budget stroller, however, it's manufactured by a small family-owned business with great customer service.
Seating
If you intend to use car seats for twins, then a stroller which accepts them is essential. Many of our top-scoring double strollers come with car seat adapters, which makes them compatible with most popular brands. For instance the UPPAbaby Vista v2 double works with two car seats and the Joovy Twin Roo+ accommodates one car seat as well as bassinet (sold separately). We recommend strollers that are compatible with multiple infant car seats because you can choose from a variety of prices and not be tied to one brand.
You'll need to decide whether you prefer a tandem or side-byside stroller. A side-by-side twin stroller provides the traditional seating configuration, and it's more maneuverable -- especially in narrow spaces or over curbs. A tandem stroller can feel unstable and require more space between the seats. The different seat heights may also lead to fighting between siblings.
There are a variety of strollers available for families with twins or children who are the same age. The Baby Trend Sit N' Stand double stroller, for instance is a highly-rated option and compatible with car seats. This allows parents to move their children from their car to the double stroller with ease.
The stroller's rear and front storage baskets are large and spacious, too. These baskets are perfect to store all of your diaper bags, extra clothes and backpacks. The front storage area also includes a space for your keys and phone. The baskets are mesh-sided to prevent objects from falling, meaning you don't need to search to find them.
Evenflo Pivot Xpand Double is another budget-friendly option. It offers a similar level of versatility as some of our award-winning strollers. Its seats work with two infant car seat carriers and be converted into two bassinets for toddlers or modified ones that can face either direction. This makes it a great choice for twins from birth through early childhood.
