What is a bedside cot?
A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet or co-sleeper is a crib for babies that is attached to your adult bed. This allows your child to sleep with you in safety. It is a safe method of co-sleeping and does not increase the risk of SIDS like bedsharing. It also helps you bond with the newborn baby.
The cots usually come with a side that can be raised, so you can easily reach your infant throughout the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly beneficial for mothers who are recovering from a c-section. Many are portable or foldable so you can use them for travel and as an interim solution for babies who aren't ready to transition to a larger crib.
Look for a crib with a breathable mattress, and an extra-safe cover that will keep your baby safe from stains. You might also want purchase baby-safe items such as an infant blanket or a teether.
If you're seeking a long-term solution Some cribs have conversion kits that allow you to convert them into a toddler bed or cot when the time is right. This is a great way to extend their life span and making the transition easier. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be turned into an infant bed. Others can be used with a standard adult bed or a high-rise bed. This is a great option for families that are planning to frequently travel or switch between bedrooms in the evening. You should also think about how big your bedroom is to ensure that you can fit the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have risers which can be used to create an incline to accommodate babies with reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib manufactured by the English brand Joie is a wonderful addition to their range of high-quality products for babies. This co-sleeper was designed to help parents connect and sleep side-by-side with their babies, without sharing a single bed. It is full of features that help make bonding between parent and baby secure, easy, and fun.
One of the main features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated by the push of a button. This will help soothe your baby to sleep with a gentle rhythm that doesn't disturb their natural sleep pattern. This is ideal for toddlers and older infants who struggle to settle and can also help with digestion problems such as reflux and colic.
The crib can also be attached to the side of the bed with clips and straps. This makes it solid and secure, allowing you to get a good night's sleep without having to worry about your baby rolling off into the middle of the room. The rounded shape of the cocoon has soft padding on the sides as well as double mesh windows on both ends. This allows airflow while ensuring your baby's safety.
The mattress included is firm and comfortable, and has an easily removable cover. The aluminum frame is lightweight, making the crib extremely portable and easy to assemble. The four locking wheels are covered in rubber to ensure the crib doesn't leave marks on your floor and are easy to move around. The crib is easy to clean thanks to the fabric that is washable and can be easily packed in a bag for overnight stays.

The airflow mattress is a premium model that provides an ideal sleeping surface and the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings, including an incline setting that can help with reflux and congestion.

Plus, it has a top bar that can be easily lowered for feeding at night without having to search for zips in the dark.
Anna found that the CoZee was a safe and comfortable sleep space for her newborn. She was pleased that it didn't move like other models so she wasn't woken up in the night trying to comfort her child to feed. She also enjoyed that the side lowered down so she didn't need to reach out over her partner to carry the baby out for feedings at night.
The CoZee comes in oak or charcoal and is a chic option for any bedroom. It looks more like an elegant piece of furniture than some of the other cribs that we've tried, which look quite utilitarian in comparison. It's also relatively lightweight at just 11kg, and comes with a carry bag so you can take it with you on holiday or if you're moving home. The only things you'll have to purchase are a waterproof sheet and a co-sleeping safety strap. There are step-bystep instructions and illustrations to guide you through the process when you first open the box, making it a one-person job should you need to.
The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bassinet for infants designed to help parents feel closer to their baby as they sleep. It can be adjusted upwards and downwards, and moved through three different positions for sliding to be placed beside the bed of the parent or in the corner so the baby is always at hand. The mesh siding allows air to circulate through, allowing you to quickly see your baby. You can also store any extra pajamas or items in the large basket underneath.
Unlike some other smaller bedside cribs The Iora can be folded flat and comes with a
travel bedside crib bag which allows it to be taken anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and believed that it was a suitable size for a bedside cot, not too big or small. They also appreciated the large storage basket that is ideal for storing nappies or bedding.
This is a great option for parents looking to sleep in a
Co Sleeper Bedside Cot-sleeping arrangement but don't want to share their own beds or whose partner may be suffering from mobility issues, such as arthritis or back pain. Our mom testers are thrilled with the fact that they can easily access their child in the Iora, and it also has an optional reflux incline to aid in reducing gas.
Our moms are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. These include placing an infant in the Moses basket or crib on its own, without toys, blankets and pillows. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for the baby and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as other cribs that are smaller on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier to move, you can choose another alternative.
