1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a great robot vacuum that comes with several smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic hoover robot bin emptying feature is one of the most useful features we've encountered in a robot, and it works well with hard floors as well as carpets. The app walks you through the entire process. It is also easy to use and set up. Its ability to resume the same place it left off during our tests is a great feature. It was able to do this for 77 minutes in one cleaning before the battery was exhausted.

The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums that we tested has a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt container on the base of its charging once it's full. This makes it easier to maintain the unit and also helps prevent the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still needs to be manually cleaned after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dust bin can hold 2.4L which is enough to last four to five cleaning sessions.

Like the i7 uses state-ofthe-art floor-tracking sensors to create maps. It also lets you navigate through neat rows. However, the i3+ EVO only stores a single map while the i7 has the capacity to store multiple maps. The i7's map is used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, but not for the i3+ EVO.

Although the i3+ EVO is more effective at picking up dirt and debris from surfaces than the other robovacs that we tested but it's not the best in terms of cleaning edges and corners. It's also not as gentle on furniture, despite being surprisingly quiet. It was a bit rough on furniture, since it moved chairs away. It also caused collisions with the sides of the bed.

2. Black & Decker Pro Q5

If you're looking to increase your collection of robot vacuums or are just starting out using one, the Q5 Pro is a great choice. You can schedule cleanings or create no-go zones. You can also see the status of your battery. The app is easy to use, but it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit. That feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. As of early November, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to indicate that this feature is delayed until 2025. Several other robots don't work with HomeKit, but many of them are compatible with Siri Shortcuts.

The base station is well-designed and can automate cleaning to a great extent. It offers excellent obstacle avoidance and navigation.

This model utilizes a dToF internal LiDAR sensor to create a map of your home, resulting in efficient cleaning routes. The iMop was rated highly for its navigation and coverage. It also did a great job of avoiding obstacles such as furniture. It also has the ability to return to the base station which is a nice feature in the event it's running out of battery during cleaning.

In our carpet cleaning test it was successful in cleaning carpets. However, it struggled to clean carpets and rugs with thick piles.
