The
Best robot vacuum cleaner UK robot vacuums best Hoover
The
best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best
robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's
robot vacuums that mop that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your
robot hoover vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
