The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.

Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots that vacuum and mop also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum with mop that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuums that mop vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
