Buying a double buggy from birth;
maps.google.hr,
When you are deciding on the perfect double buggy, there are plenty of things to consider. We spoke to Fourth Trimester postnatal retreat expert Katie Billingsley for her advice on everything from seating options and age ranges to folding mechanisms and storage space.
This buggy is a must-have for active families. It grows with you and your family from toddlers to twins. It's lightweight with great manoeuvrability and can handle difficult terrain with ease.
What style of buggy do want?
A double buggy is perfect for transporting two kids, not necessarily of the same age, side-by-side. They can also function as prams. Each seat is equipped with an adjustable mechanism that allows your children can
sit n stand double stroller or lie down in different positions. A lot of them have plenty of storage space for everything from snacks and drinks to nappies and wipes. They're typically lightweight, fold up easily and are small enough to fit into your car boot. If you're someone who drives a lot, it's important to make sure the buggy is easy to manoeuvre with the wheels folded and to take out and into your boot.
You might have seen this kind of double buggy on other mums strollers, or even in one as a kid. These are great for older siblings who wish to keep up with you, or for twins. They typically come with numerous seating options (including "cinema" seats) for your little ones to pick from. They're usually easy to steer and, if you opt for a model that has soft suspension, make light work of kerbs.
Tandem buggies are another popular option because they're easier to turn than a side-by-side. The second seat is located behind the first and not on the top. The seats are usually larger and heavier than a side by side, so you should check whether they can fit through doors or on public transport. They can be used for twins, a baby and toddler or three kids with the addition of a buggy.
Lastly there are the'single-to-double' convertibles which can be used as a single pushchair from birth then convert to a double by attaching a second seat, carrycot or car seat to their clever frame. They're more expensive than tandem buggies or side-byside buggies, but they offer a lot of flexibility and have a high selling price. They are easy to steer and have an ample storage basket. They can also handle uneven surfaces. Some models even come with a built-in ride-on board and "cinema seating" for your older child.
Do you have twins?
Whether your children are twins or siblings with different age groups, a double buggy is the
best double strollers way to move them around. There are two kinds of double buggy - side-byside buggies that let your children are seated together and tandem buggies in which one child is higher than the other. Both can accommodate two fixed seats, but side-by-side buggies tend to be smaller in width to allow for access through doors. Tandems tend to be wider overall. They can also accommodate seats for toddlers and a carrycot.
Do you have one?
At beginning the idea of having a younger sibling can seem like a lot of responsibility especially if you are also taking care of the baby. They might be a bit irritated if they are placed in a baby carrier while you push the older one to the side and so having a double buggy from the start can make everything simpler. It will aid your child in settling into their new role of a 'big sister or brother'.
The side-by-side double buggies could be a great option for twins since each child will get the same view. However they are heavy and heavy. We like the sleek B-AGILE DOUBLE from Leclerc which has an innovative frame that can be expanded in width to accommodate two fixed seats and offers various configuration options, including using the second seat as an infant carrier or bassinet.
We recommend the Mountain Buggy
double running stroller Trailblazer to families who are active and are keen to explore. This buggy is clever and can start as an individual pushchair, but can be converted into a double, taking an additional seat, carrycot or car seat (depending on the model). Its super-smooth ride is ideal for rough terrain and includes a number of clever features that will keep everyone comfortable.
Do you need a travel system?
Double buggies are ideal for bringing your kids around in comfort but they're not the ideal purchase for every family. Depending on your lifestyle, and the age gap between your children, you may be able to do using a single stroller with some attachments, such as baby carriers and toddler harnesses that allow you to ferry your child on their back or in front of you.
If you decide to go with a double buggy, there are three types to choose from: side-by-side or tandem, and convertible. The two seats are set in a row, so that your children can see one another. However, they are typically larger than a single pushchair, and can be tricky to maneuver between kerbs. Tandem buggies are an easier way to travel with a seat in the front and a second in the rear, however they can still be long and heavy to push.
Convertible double buggies are wonderful as they allow you to transform your single stroller into double buggy by attaching an infant bassinet or car seat to the frame. This allows you to keep your baby comfortably in their car seat until they're ready to transition into the main buggy seat. The UPPababy V2 is a great illustration - it could be used with twins as well as a toddler and an infant, or even three children using the option of a PiggyBack Board.
If your children have grown older and have more stamina, a double buggy can also be used to accompany them on bike rides or day excursions where they prefer walking. However, it's worth remembering that they may not prefer to ride in a buggy and can easily be tired and disgruntled during longer trips.
So, before you decide to invest in a double buggy from birth be sure to think about the above points and the particular circumstances of your family. A sturdy and reliable double buggy can make life easier, especially when you need to navigate busy streets or crowded malls.
