World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example the perfect rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't change much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. Many weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain on its own.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative consequences. Upgrades can render items unusable, unless you are very lucky.

Armor items can be upgraded to increase their stats. This will increase the defense base of a helm or chest while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to reroll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain when upgrading along with the relative value of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button within the item menu, using the arrows that are circling. The item upgrade will be rerolled and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level nor bind to account status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which makes it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense you have for your character, the more health you can get from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest and the associated fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. It is possible to use anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for instance, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to keep up in frigid conditions with a lot of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll have to focus on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still wear by the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also gain perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to beat the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have some upgrades to your chest armor and helmets that allow you to stealth around some monsters.

Potions

Potions are bottled substances that, when consumed, give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.

Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by making them on a crafting table or in the chest of the Alchemist. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion used and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI which allows you to select the potions that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP total.

Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions for instance are now available with a time of zero, not the 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display for the item level upgrade. The potion table is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players playing Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be mixed in cauldrons. The same applies to the use of a potion in the cauldron that is filled. This will drain the potion and refill the bottle.

In addition, there are lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Similar to lingering potions, the can be enhanced by adding redstone to it. The table of potions has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an ornament or object that has a purpose but is not important as a trinket. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify affection or friendship, particularly between family members.

In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrades, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their stats.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing an entirely new one. It can be done by a player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl as the previous one, and will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they are no longer needed and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players which makes them an attractive alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other pieces of gear that they won't replace in the near future (for instance rings or cloaks). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when selecting which items to upgrade. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks it is recommended that they upgrade their chest, helm, shoulders, and belt.

Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they no longer have value, and the new trinket will receive an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. Re-upgrading will destroy the trinket unless it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying a new one.
