1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot
automatic hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its
automatic vacuum and mop robot has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
