The
Best Robot HooverThe
best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detector) are a plus.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only
robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the
automatic vacuum cleaner works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an
auto vacuum and mop-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
