Bedside Cot Reviews
A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet for babies, is positioned next to your bed to ensure that you are able to safely look after your infant during night feeds and diaper-changing without having to leave your bed. These cribs are fantastic for helping to build independence for your child as they grow more comfortable in their own bed.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide crib is an ideal bedside crib that allows parents to sleep with their newborn while ensuring they are resting safely. Its smooth gliding motion will help soothe your baby to sleep, and its innovative features let you monitor your child without leaving your bed.
The sliding side panel of the cot can be lifted and lowered with just a pressing of a button. This makes it easy to reach inside and soothe a baby in the night. It has 11 height adjustments to accommodate almost any mattress size and adjustable folding feet that ensure it is at the correct level.
The cot is cushioned, features mesh sides for better ventilation, and its mattress is made from high-density foam to provide extra protection. It's also washable to keep it clean. Additionally, it is fitted with a sheet that's suitable for the cot.
Unlike some other
bedside crib travel cribs like the Roomie Glide is suitable for the majority of beds, including divans thanks to its straps and clip attachment. It can also be used as a stand-alone crib when it's not connected to your bed, and it's packed with features that are created with the bonding of parents and children in mind.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that while this crib is ideal for infants, it will not last long once your baby turns six months old, and you'll need to invest in larger cots. Overall, Roanna felt that the Joie Roomie Glide was a excellent purchase and she particularly liked its sleek design.
John Lewis sells the Roomie Glide for PS160. Roanna thought this was a reasonable price for an item. She liked the way it looked in her bedroom and believed its gray color would be appropriate for the majority of modern homes. However, she pointed out that it isn't an ideal idea to rock a smaller baby because it can set an unhealthy habit that can affect later sleep patterns.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee bedside crib is designed to provide an uninterrupted night's sleep. It has a drop side rail which can be easily lowered for nighttime feeds without having to wake your child or get them out of bed - it's ideal for breastfeeding mothers! It's also lightweight and easy to move around during nap time or for travel.
It's made of soft materials and features breathable mesh sides to promote airflow. It's available in charcoal and oak and has a variety of melange fabric options that are compatible with all decor styles. Anna found it solid and secure when it was attached to her bed, with the legs securely clicking into the frame and the zips securely secured to ensure baby safety. It took her about 10 minutes to assemble it and didn't require tools, with clear instructions and a video as well as a customer support number available if you encounter any problems.
In addition to the standard features you'd expect from a crib that is bedside, like being able to connect to your existing bed using a stay-in-place connector system and six height levels, the CoZee has an additional incline option which can be used to help aid congestion or reflux in infants. It can also be washed in the machine - a must for all the spills and vomit that accompany a new baby!
If you're looking to keep your baby close to you during the first six months as they're learning to sleep independently, the CoZee is a great option because it can be used as a separate cot, changing table and toddler bed. It can even be converted into a sofa bed with the addition of an extension pack. While it won't be able to magically make your baby sleep or feed them, it will rock the baby and take them to school.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's more expensive options, however it comes with a lot of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper or a standalone crib and is suitable for infants ranging from birth to six months. It's easy to open and close the side panel thanks to a brand new mechanism. It is also more adjustable than its predecessor, having 11 different height settings and legs that retract to installation underneath any bed.
Our testers loved the easy access the side panel provides that can be flipped up and down at the touch of the button. This was an enormous help in feedings at night because it meant they could easily reach inside and pick up their baby without waking them up.
It is possible to lower the side panel by it's own, however this is not recommended, because it increases the chance that your child could get out of the cot. However, the safety locking mechanism means that it will only stay down when attached to the parent's bed correctly. This is a wonderful feature to have in place for peace of mind, especially when you're breastfeeding and need frequent nighttime feedings.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be a perfect fit for any bed that is divan-based as well as beds with drawers due to the telescopic legs. It also has a tilting function for reflux babies and a rocking mode to help them sleep after eating. It's also extremely spacious and has excellent ventilation due to its mesh sides.
Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it does have quite a long instruction manual. It's heavier than other side-sleepers, however it's fairly portable and can be moved from room room easily. It's also small enough to fit into its travel bag when not in use which is a plus if you need to transport it. The only issue our testers found is that the side panel did not flex as much compared to other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to observe your
baby bedside co sleeper from the bed.
The Shnuggle Air
The Shnuggle Air
large bedside cot crib is an excellent choice if you want a crib that grows with your child. It's designed to be a sleep-co-sleeping bassinet that will attach securely to your bed, but can also transform into a chic cot when your baby is ready. It's perfect for night-time feeds and for strengthening your bond with your baby.
The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, unlike some other models. The dual-view mesh side panels and airflow mattress that is hypoallergenic and breathable increase airflow and keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle slope can help alleviate colic and reflux. The zip-down side allows you to feed your baby, or even comfort them during the night.
The cot conversion kit (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear directions and everything you need to begin. It took us about an hour to put together and was reasonably straightforward. The only downside to the instructions was that a few images did not have captions. This made it difficult to follow the instructions. However, overall it was a simple procedure and the quality of materials employed was of a high standard.
The Shnuggle Air is a great option for mothers who are nursing or have had an e-csection. It allows them to reach out and touch their baby to comfort them and feeding without having to leave their bed. It's also great for mothers who wish to avoid the hassle of getting in and out of a traditional cot or placing their child down for a nap.
In our tests we observed the gliding motion of the next-to-me crib to be extremely helpful when it comes to lulling babies back to sleep after feedings at midday and in the evening. The drop-down side can also be easily accessible to feed or soothe babies in the middle of the night, which was a real selling point for our exhausted test moms. Although it doesn't rock, or come with extra features like an audio system, the Joie Roomie Slide's elegant design and practicality are a welcome addition our best bedside cot (
