1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot cleaner with mop vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot vacuum cleaners reviews mop cleaners we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
