1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the
robot vacuum cleaners uk's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It's the only
robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Finally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other
good robot vacuum vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
