Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to cut down on the frequency of hoovering manually. Select a vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean corners and stairs and also has an enormous bin that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature that is essential for families with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're very adept in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-
highest rated robot vacuum robots that we evaluated the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging,
best self cleaning vacuum-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or via voice.
In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is an automobile. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It is able to swiftly change from
robotic floor scrubber vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments as well as a handheld. This is a big improvement over older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second run usually works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it frequently goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often will run out of battery before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer components that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and works better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of automation features.
