The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the
best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient
robot cleaner vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only
robot vacuum with mop in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a
good robot vacuum option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for
robots that vacuum and mop that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
