Robots That Vacuum and MopRobots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one time without the need to switch devices. They can also help save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time at all.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly application that lets you choose the exact kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For example, you can choose to have the robot clean up the kitchen and living rooms but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are excellent too and the robot is capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. The only issue it has is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but just a glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.
The docking station features a handy LCD screen that indicates the time when maintenance is required like emptying the debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of Eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in standard mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is easy to use and intuitive and lets you view every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship
robot cleaner vacuum and mop. It's not like the model from last year this one has two agitators in its mopping pad which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove small hairs and other particles that other
robotic hoovers cleaners might miss.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tried is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its direction and clean them without missing a beat.
It's the most expensive model I've tested, but it also has the most features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and comes with three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process mop button, which doubles as a child-lock and a home-button that can bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml tank of water. The water tank self-empties and the bin auto-filling.
The only drawback I could find with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've found that any plush carpet that the
robot vacuum best touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these using the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life and component maintenance. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
