It has plenty to offer for its relatively low cost, and it's one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance ask the robot vacuum with mop to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only minor issue is that it can hit objects and walls at full speed - but just a glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station shows the maintenance tasks that are required, such as emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time, with the mop capable of running for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easy to understand, though we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a clean area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum, is the most recent version. In contrast to the model of last year this one has an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners may be unable to pick up.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that helps to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating a dual-camera that can identify objects, and determine if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also loaded with features. Its sleek, angular design is attractive and it has only three physical buttons which include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to return the robot hoover and mop to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin fills up automatically.

The only issue I have discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. You can replace the mopping cloth when required, but it's not easy to take the mount off to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and that could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with its innovative features, top suction power and advanced mowing capabilities. Its smart design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the most effective alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and crumbs. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the need for pads. Additionally, the X40 is extremely quiet during operation, only producing occasional bursts of sound when switching between modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.

Another standout feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners and clean furniture such as table and chairs' legs. The X40 is easy to clean and has numerous convenient features, making it an ideal choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is filled and notify you when it overflows, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive available, but it packs in many extra features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature of its mops, uses two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles, and clean up spills and dirt-stained spots.

The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.

There are many choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and change preferences. The app allows you to set these preferences or you can utilize the buttons on the device itself.
