They also feature a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums with mop vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
