Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 automatic floor vacuum plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or through the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though it self vacuum-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room and vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10's biggest drawback is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to clean most of an average-sized house but not long enough to clean every area (though a second run-through usually can be effective). It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and often goes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top picks and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot cleaning machine vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself.
