The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot cleaner mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
