The X1 Omni's most appealing feature is its massive dock, which doubles as the robot's charging base and housing for two water tanks, a sink for cleaning, and the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that let you manually start cleaning or recall the robot vacuums uk or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Press two of the buttons to turn off a child lock that is a great touch for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more accurate in finding objects.

This can cause the X1 to become stuck when it gets entangled in an obstacle, such as a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you manually untangle it. This was a rare incident however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert on its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a significant difference from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for a market dominated by clunky boxy units.
