A Small
double single pushchair Buggy That's Easy to Push One-Handed and Carry Up and Down Stairs
This is the double stroller you need in case you're looking for a lightweight one-hand stroller that is easy to push. It's also simple to carry up and down the stairs.
It has two fixed seats, and up to 30 different seating configurations are possible (including a triangular one!). Both seats come with UPF 50+ canopy with windows that peek out.
Size
The Joovy Kooper X2 is a double stroller that is side-by-side and can hold two children up to 50 lbs each. The seats are more spacious than the other
double seat stroller strollers with lightweights and the canopies feature large SPF 50 sunshades that have peekaboo windows. Other features that are important include a self-standing basket with the capacity of 25lbs and cup holders for one parent and swing-away bars to help kids get in and out of their seats. This is a great choice for suburban and urban families. It also comes with a double kit that includes a newborn wedgie that allows for the perfect lie-flat position.
Weight
The weight of a double buggy is one of the main factors that determine the ease to push. A lighter buggy is simpler to lift and carry, but may not have enough suspension to withstand bumps and uneven
all terrain double buggy.
Most double buggies come with a maximum weight per seat and some have total frame weight limits and it's important to check the details of each model before you buy. Some models fold down with seats removed, making them lighter and more compact this can be beneficial in cases where storage space is a premium.
Tri-fold doubles are usually the lightest models, as they only require a single hand to lift the top and lower sections. They're also a bit smaller than side-byside buggies, making them an ideal choice to fit through doorways. The iCandy Geo 3 tri-fold double is one of lightest on the market. It is able to comfortably accommodate twins, or a toddler and baby.
Tandem buggies are perfect for families that are growing because they begin as a single stroller, but can be adapted to include a second seat, car seat or carrycot. Some models, like the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating options, so they can grow with your family until three children. They tend to be heavier than tri-fold doubles, but they're usually easier to move up and down kerbs thanks to the weight being evenly distributed.
Folding
The best double buggies for small spaces fold up easily in a matter of minutes. This feature is well-loved by our Lab experts because it allows them to fit the buggies in the back of their cars and conserve space when they're not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up on the seats and the whole thing folds down. Even our oldest testers could do this tri-fold in just one hand.
The light Delta Children LX Side by Side is another great option for a compact double buggie. Its light weight is a plus, but it also has some great features including large pop-out canopy with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars to help youngsters to climb into and out of the seats and reclined seating and leg rests designed for younger children.
Manoeuvrability
When picking a
compact double buggy double stroller, you need to think about its maneuverability. This is a good indicator of how easy it is for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Some pushchairs are better than others at this, including the iCandy Orange's 'cinema seat' (where the back is elevated).
This is where narrow tandem buggies as well as side-by-side designs can be useful. However, these can be more substantial overall and so may be tricky to navigate through doors.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair is a great example, as it is a relatively compact model that can accommodate two additional seats and more importantly, the pillion board, which can accommodate a third child.
Other smaller, three-wheeled models, such as the phil&teds Dot are also incredibly flexible. This is especially the case with its clever "dot kit" which transforms it into an inline buggie. This has a couple of different seating configurations for kids of different ages. It also allows the front seat to be turned to face parents, allowing for the ultimate face-to-face bonding time. It also has a great storage basket that is easy to fold. A great choice for families with growing children!
Comfort
With compact tandem strollers or versatile side-by-side buggies, parents can keep an eye on both kids while at the park, at the grocery store or any other place. These lightweight doubles are able to accommodate two children up to 50 lbs each. They also come with a pop-out canopy which can be extended enough to give shade. The doubles also feature one cupholder for each parent and an adjustable cupholder on the seatback. They also come with a large underseat storage basket.
Add the phil&teds Double Kit to your dot buggy if you are beginning with a growing family. It can transform into a double inline stroller, which is great for toddlers and newborns alike. The clever 3-wheel design makes for easy kerb popping as well as superior maneuverability, and the sling seat is a great option for newborns to connect with their parents. You can easily swap the seat with an infant car adapter when your children grow older. You're ready to grow double stroller;
