There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
