Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're very adept in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robot vacuum rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a standard battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.

It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series.
