1. Smeg BCC02
This sleek compact and striking machine, designed by the Milan-based firm Deep Design combines the brand's retro style with cutting edge technology. The machine can handle all the stages of making coffee from grinding beans to the tamping of a puck and making milk into a texturing, before dispensing the correct amount.
The machine also sports an elegant brushed aluminium front and is available in red, black or taupe, meaning it'll easily fit into most kitchen designs. The machine is not without faults, however. Many reviewers felt that it was a bit expensive for a cup to bean maker (and it doesn't come with the milk pitcher).
There were also many glowing reviews of the quality of the
coffee machines bean to cup and the ease of use of this machine. The digital display provides feedback and step-by-step directions throughout the entire brewing process, helping you to perfect your drink every time. The machine will even tell you to alter the grind size, in case that's not what you prefer. It's almost like having a personal barista at home (minus Harry Potter's invisibility cloak and Elon Musk's rocket-building skills).
If you like milky drinks this model has an adjustable steam wand in both directions to accommodate most drinking vessels short of the Viking's drinking horn. We were awestruck by the speed and efficiency of the frothing process, as well. It also makes an amazing espresso with a fantastic crema and full flavour despite its compact size.
The BCC02 is an excellent all-rounder that's quiet, efficient and provides excellent value for money at its current price of PS499. The only issue is that it does not offer the same level customisation as other bean-to-cup machines we have examined. It's got a 15-bar pump, rather than the usual 19 bars, which isn't as good to make high-quality espressos. This is a fantastic machine for those who prefer their coffee strong and dark. There's also a convenient chute for coffee that has been ground if you want to use your own (for example, if that pesky dinner guest brings their own).
Users have also been amazed by the speed of the machine. It is more efficient than other machine they have ever used. Another advantage is that the machine will warn you when one of its hoppers is almost empty, so you do not get caught running out of your favorite drink.
The only thing that could be a negative for some individuals is the price. This machine is not cheap, costing nearly PS999. It's still cheaper than comparable Jura machines that have the same number features.
The Barista TS Smart is backed by a a generous warranty, offering two years of protection. This is a greater warranty than the standard one-year guarantee. It's a mark of confidence on the part of the manufacturer. It also includes a cleaning tablet and a descaler, making it easy to stay up to date with the machine's needs for maintenance. This is a great machine for those seeking a high-end and versatile bean to cup machine that's priced at a reasonable price.
