WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the
Best item upgrader by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current
item Level upgrade level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain
item level upgrade level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an
item upgrader kit upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
