Choosing a
3 Wheel Double StrollerIt's one of the best side-by-side strollers in our testing, offering smooth riding through rough terrain and effortless turns in tight spaces. It's also a great jogger that folds easily with the self-standing option.
However, it comes with double-action brakes which require the depression of two pedals and isn't able to take infant car seats. This could be a major issue for some parents.
Safety Features
For those who plan to take a stroll or jogs, double strollers with three wheels offer more stability than four-wheel options. The reason is that they always have two wheels on the floor and some four-wheelers are able to lift one wheel off the ground in order to negotiate curbs or other obstacles. The downside is that three-wheelers tend to be heavier, which can be a concern when weight is a factor.
Some
3 wheel tandem stroller-wheel strollers come with pneumatic (air-filled tire) tires. These are great for those who wish to run, and want a more comfortable ride than the hard plastic wheels of certain models. They require regular maintenance, pressure checks and an emergency tire repair kit since they are more prone to lose air than the tires on solid tires. Check the website of the manufacturer or stroller manual for recommended pressures.
Strollers with adjustable handlebars can lessen the stress on the neck, arms and back of the person who is pushing them. The ideal position is close to your belly button with your elbows slightly bent and hands relaxed. A lockable front swivel wheel could also be useful for moving across bumpy or uneven surfaces.
A well-functioning brake is vital and you should test the brake on your stroller's parking regularly to ensure it engages quickly and smoothly. Also, consider whether the stroller features windows that can be opened to peek at and/or an adjustable seat. These features are useful for toddlers or infants who requires a nap while you're out and out and about.
The best double strollers for jogging come with an adjustable tracking. This feature helps keep the front wheel straight while jogging. It prevents veering that is constant, and reduces the necessity to keep adjusting your posture while running.
With the large size and weight of most double strollers, you need to make sure their folded dimensions will fit in your trunk or home storage space before making a purchase. Be sure to check the stroller's shipping and handling costs, as they can quickly increase. Take into consideration any additional features that you may require or want to avoid, like snacks trays or speakers that are built-in that could make the stroller heavier, less aerodynamic and a trip hazard for children.
Maneuverability
When deciding on a stroller to purchase it is important to consider the ease of movement. is a key factor. Due to their size, weight and additional passengers double strollers can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. This can be frustrating when you're trying to navigate busy sidewalks or grocery stores with toddlers in tow.
While some of our favorite strollers -- like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double -- are extremely easy to push, other strollers struggle because of their flexing frames or wide wheels. These double strollers are usually heavier than other double strollers. This makes them harder to transport and move when not in use.
There are plenty of strollers available that provide great maneuverability without spending a fortune. The double kit of phil&teds lets you convert your jogging buggy into an inline double stroller that works with an infant car seat. This is a great choice for families that are growing or who have limited space.

A padded handle makes pushing easier. A swivel-wheel on the front is helpful, especially for joggers, to maneuver around curbs and narrow spaces. The ability to lock the swivel wheel to ensure a smoother journey is also perfect for taking the family on a long walk or jogging.
Another feature you should look for in a double stroller is a quick folding operation that can be performed by one hand. The UPPAbaby Vista Double, Evenflo Pivot Xplore Wagon and Joovy Zoom X2 Double all have the top folding systems in our tests.
During the process of testing we were looking for flexible seating options to accommodate the different needs of families. The UPPAbaby Vista Double took the top spot in this category because it can accommodate twins in two separate infant car seats, or accommodate a third rider with the addition of a riding board. This model is also the fastest and most easy to assemble of all those we tested, taking only 15 minutes.
The storage capacity of the majority of double strollers we tried is adequate, however some are more accessible than others. The Joovy Caboose and UPPAbaby ultralight graphite both have large, easily accessible baskets that can accommodate up to 30lbs. The Evenflo Pivot Xplore has a large storage bin, and the Joovy Caboose Ultralight features smaller storage which isn't easy to get to because it is located under the sliding rear seat.

Storage
A good double stroller will provide ample storage space for you, your children's drinks and snacks, and any other items you might need. But the amount of storage varies significantly between models. Certain models, like the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Graphite, the lightest stroller we have tested, as well as the new Summer Infant 3D Pac CS+ double stroller, have only two cup holders for parents and hanging storage bags at the back of each seat. Other strollers, like the UPPAbaby Vista Double and Joovy ScooterX2 have large baskets that are accessible from the inside.
