Robot vacuums and mops are becoming more capable. They pass our cleaning tests, and can handle various floors. Look for models that allow you to select from a variety of modes, and use their charging docks to automatically empty and clean the stairs.

Many of the top models are compatible with smartphones. Check for an app that allows you to save maps, schedules and select cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The black and gloss gunmetal Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is one of most impressive robot vacuums and mop combos available. It uses lidar for navigation making maps of rooms and floors.

When I tried the S1, it was able to locate our downstairs, which has Linoleum flooring in the kitchen/dining room and bathrooms, along with carpeting with a medium-pile and an area rug. It was able to drive close to walls and even over thresholds that are raised without issue. However it was a bit difficult traversing the stairs in one go. The S1 performed well in cleaning hard floors. Its mop moved smoothly on its flat side and swung up when it came to carpets or rug.

The docking station of the S1 automatically emptys its trash bin and replenishes its water tank onboard with clean, ozonated waters prior to every mopping session. The dock also includes a cleaning solution in the water to ensure deep cleaning robot mop and vacuum. The S1 water tank is able to hold up to 12 mopping sessions, however this will differ dependent on how often you use the mop.

The S1 requires periodic maintenance, just like any other 2-in-1 robots. You'll need to wash out the dirty tank to keep it from becoming clogged. 3. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year however their latest top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum has more impressive features.
