Bedside Cot ReviewsA bedside crib (also called a bassinet) is placed close to your bed so you can be able to provide care to baby during night feeds and nappy changes without getting out of the bed. These cribs are great to help develop independence in your child as they become more comfortable in their own sleeping space.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide crib is a
bedside cot newborn crib which allows parents to rest with their infant while ensuring that they are safe to sleep. The smooth glide motion helps to lull your baby back to sleep, and its ingenuous features let you keep an eye on your baby without leaving your bed.
The cot's side panel sliding raises and lowers at the press of a button, making it easy to reach in and soothe a baby in the night. It comes with 11 height adjustments to fit nearly any mattress size, and adjustable folding feet to ensure that it's at the right level.
In terms of safety, the cot is padded and fitted with mesh sides for increased ventilation, while its mattress is made from high-density foam for extra protection. It is also wipeable which means you can keep the
cot for bedside clean. It is fitted with a bed sheet that is suitable for a crib.
Contrary to other cribs that are
small bedside cot like the Roomie Glide is suitable for the majority of beds, including divans, thanks to its straps and clip attachment. It can also be used as a standalone crib if it isn't connected to the bed. It comes with a variety of wonderful features designed with parent and baby bonding in mind.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that even though this crib is perfect for infants, it will not last long once your little one turns six months old, so you will need to invest in a bigger cot. Overall, Roanna found that the Joie Roomie Glide was a really good buy and she was particularly impressed by its elegant design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna thought was a reasonable price for a cot with these innovative features. She also liked the way it was positioned in the bedroom and thought that the grey color will work well in modern homes. She did point out that it's not a good idea to rock a baby in the early years because it can cause an unfavourable sleep pattern for later.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning
twin bedside cot crib that was designed to ensure a peaceful night's sleep in mind. It features an adjustable side rail that can be easily adjusted to feed your child in the evening without disturbing them or getting out of bed. This is perfect for breastfeeding mothers! It's also light, making it easy to move around the house during naps and for travelling.
It's made of soft materials and has breathable mesh sides to promote airflow. It is available in oak or charcoal with various melange fabrics that can be incorporated with a variety of styles. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure after being affixed to her bed. The legs snapped into place and the zippers were secured for safety. It took Anna around 10 minutes to put it together and didn't require any tools. There are clear instructions as well as a video, and a customer support number in case you encounter any issues.
As well as the usual features you'd expect from a crib for your bed, like being able to attach to your bed using a stay-in-place connection system and six levels of height The CoZee also comes with an additional incline option which can be used to help aid congestion or reflux in infants. It's also machine washable, a must for all the dribbles, vomit and snot that come with having a newborn!
If you want to keep your baby close to you during the first six months as they're beginning to learn to sleep independently The CoZee is a fantastic option because it can be used as a stand-alone crib, changing table and toddler bed. It can also be transformed into a sofa bed by the addition of an extension pack. And while it won't feed your baby or magically sleep them it will rock them until they go off!
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's more expensive options, but it comes with a lot of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper, or a standalone crib, and is suitable for infants from birth to six months. It's easy to open and close the side panel with the new mechanism. It's also more adjustable than the predecessor, with 11 different height settings and legs that retract to place under any bed.
Our testers loved the ease of access offered by the side panel, which can be moved upwards and down with one push of a switch. This was particularly useful in the evening when feeding time was over, since they could reach inside and pick up their baby without disturbing them up.
It is possible to lower the side panel by itself but this is not advised, since it increases the likelihood that your baby will fall out of the cot. However, the safety locking mechanism ensures that it can only remain in place if it is connected to the bed properly. This feature is great to have peace of mind when you breastfeed and require frequent feedings at night.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be a perfect fit for any bed that is divan-based as well as beds with drawers due to the telescopic legs. It comes with a tilting function for reflux babies, and an option to rock to calm them after eating. It's also extremely large and has excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our test subjects even with the lengthy instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than other side-sleepers, however, it is easily moved from one area to another. It's also able to fold into a bag for travel, which is a great option when you need to transport it. The only thing our testers have found is that the side panel did not stretch as much as other models. This made it a little harder to see your baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air
If you're looking for a crib for your bed that will expand with your child then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth considering. It's a crib for co-sleeping that is securely attached to your bed and can be transformed into a stylish cot once your baby is old enough. Perfect for nighttime feedings and enhancing the bond between you and your new born.
Contrary to other models of bedside cribs The Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. The mesh side panels with dual-view and airflow mattress that is hypoallergenic and breathable maximize airflow and keep your baby comfortable and cool. A gentle incline option helps to ease colic and reflux while the zip down side makes it easy to feed or comfort your baby during the night.
The kit for conversion to cot (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you need to start. It took us around an hour to assemble and was fairly simple to put together. The only drawback was the lack of written captions on a few images, which made it difficult to understand some of the steps. However, it was a straightforward procedure and the quality of the materials used was excellent.
The Shnuggle Air is a great choice for women who are breastfeeding or have had an e-csection. It lets them reach out and touch their baby to comfort them and feeding without leaving their bed. It's a great option for parents who don't want the stress of putting their child in a traditional cot or getting out of it.
The gliding motion was discovered to be very beneficial in lulling babies into sleep following feedings during the midday or at night. The drop-down sides make it easy to feed or soothe babies during the night. This was a major selling point for our tired moms who took part in our tests. While it doesn't rock or have extra features like a sound system, the Joie Roomie Glide's sleek design and functional features make it a great addition to our top crib reviews for bed.
