Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even find it using a smartphone application.

First, place the fob onto an even surface, with the logo facing upward. Find the button to release it. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, and slowly pull it up.

Locking the Door

Hold your key fob with Volvo logo in the front to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button on the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open a cover which protects the manual key blade. You'll require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise, ensuring that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Starting the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide a level of convenience and functionality that is not available with traditional manual keys. A key fob, like any other battery-operated device, may lose charge over time. If you notice that your key fob is less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace the battery.

If your vehicle is fitted with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The car will be heated or cooled at the same temperature that it was set to when it was parked, and run for up 15 minutes.

Use a fingernail to remove the cover from the back of the key fob. A button should be placed beneath the cover on an angle, close to the edge of the body. Slide it to the right. The cover will then fall open and slide off and reveal the manual key blade in! If you can't find the button, take a look around the newly revealed manual key access to find a hidden lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

Volvo key fobs have an option that hides behind them that allows you to instantly open all the windows. This is helpful when trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply need fresh air while driving.

To unlock the windows, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, as well as the sunroof in case your car comes with one. After you've finished using the vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. It will emit an intense, attention-grabbing roar which can deter thieves and help you get home safe after a long night out. This feature is great should you reside in an area that is dangerous or you want to keep your family safe while away from home.

The opening of the Tailgate

When you're ready to get your car started, use the key fob to press the START button (and do not worry about your battery going out or your car not starting since it has a backup key mechanical slot as well). This is just one of the many tricks you can use for your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs offer an array of benefits over a traditional mechanical car key. They don't always work perfectly, and the batteries can be dead. You can program your key fob at home if are in a hurry or don't have the time to visit a shop.

Find a smooth surface and lay out your key fob, battery and any other keys. Place the key fob on the surface with the volvo new key cost logo facing up, then locate a small black button on the left side of the fob. Slide it to the right. The cover will begin to loosen and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade underneath it.

You can unlock all doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob two times. The lock button also shuts the sunroof and windows (if fitted) by pressing it for two seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should contain a procedure to reset the alarm.
