WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The
Item level upgrade used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current
Best item upgrader level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a The button will show the item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current
Best item upgrader level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even if they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the
item upgrading in the proper steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
